Yesterday morning year 7 and 8 were off timetable to attend an important Road, Cycle and Water Safety Workshop.

Members of the Wokingham Borough Council safety team visited school to speak to students about the importance of staying safe in and around water. This information was particularly timely at the start of the summer holiday, with the hot weather drawing youngsters to spend time around local rivers.

Cycle technicians were on hand during the morning break to perform safety checks on students' bikes, and give written feedback on any repairs that were needed. They  performed checks on 54 bikes, and it was gratifying to hear that the condition of the majority of the bikes checked were the best they had seen in Wokingham Borough schools.

Two members of the local community police (One of them was an ex student) also kindly gave up their free time to speak to students on the importance of road safety, and hand out security stickers.

Many thanks to the professionals for taking the time to visit us.
