Calypso Workshop

On Friday 15th March, members of our GCSE Music cohort (and a few lucky KS3 students) were treated to a Calypso Steel Pan workshop provided by musicians from the RAPSO Steel Orchestra. Students learnt about the different types of steel pan and the historical tradition behind the Calypso genre. We thank Mary and Paul from CultureMix for providing such a wonderful experience for our students!

“I really enjoyed the workshop. It was a relaxed environment and liked playing the steel pans.” – Jenna , Year 7.

“I learnt about how the steel pans evolved from the culture of Trinidad and Tobago. Playing the steel pans was really fun because I had never played them before.” – Stanley, Year 10.
