Bulmershe Bake Off was a sweet success

On Wednesday 7th February we hosted the first ever Year 5 Woodley Cluster ‘Bake Off’. This was a great success with students all working together from different primary schools alongside The Bulmershe School Year 9 students.

Year 5 students from Highwood, Rivermead and South Lake Primary School spent months planning, designing and practising their showstopper bake ready to be judged by Councillor Keith Baker and Mrs Woodfin, Headteacher.

I am very proud of the following students in Year 9 – Ellie, Scarlett, Harvey, Alfie, Sandhuni, Caitlin, Jess and Livya who demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and were highly praised by students, staff and parents.  They were a great asset to this event and I am truly grateful.

The day consisted of Year 5 students baking and creating their showstopper bake, and completing an icing skills challenge. Their designs were fabulous, as can be seen in the photograph.

We would like to congratulate Year 5 students from Rivermead Primary School who successfully won the ‘Bake Off’ and we are excited to be hosting this event again in the near future.

I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Sainsbury’s in Winnersh who kindly donated all of the ingredients, the Mayor of Woodley – Councillor Jenny Cheng – for supporting the celebration presentations, Councillor Keith Baker and Mrs Woodfin for judging, and the teaching staff and parents from Highwood, Rivermead and South Lake Primary Schools for all your support – it is much appreciated.
