On Monday 26th February the school welcomed 8 teachers from China currently studying for 3 months at the International Study and Language Institute at Reading University.

We host teachers twice a year in October and February, which give all year 7 students the unique opportunity to learn about life for children in China. This visit the teachers taught year 7 all about Chinese spring festival and other Chinese customs, how to make traditional paper lanterns, Chinese dance and Tai Chi, the Great Wall of China and also lessons in Mandarin.

During their four day visit the teachers also observe our teachers at work and school life in general, giving them a valuable insight into teaching in Britain, which is very different from practice in China. Unfortunately their last day on Thursday was disrupted by the snow, but this gave them their first opportunity to build a snowman - something they won't experience at home as, coming from Southern China they never have snow!

Thank you to our visitors and the ISLI at Reading University - we look forward to our next batch of visitors in October!
