SMSC stands for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education. At Bulmershe we see our work in SMSC as core in developing our students to be confident, respectful and valuable citizens of our community. SMSC is taught across all year groups and abilities, some of the work students have completed include:

  • 6th form debate on the role of women in society
  • Mock elections in the run up to the general election
  • Duke of Edinburgh bronze and silver expeditions
  • Charity fundraising events, including support for the victims of the earthquake disaster in Nepal
  • Establishing the Bulmershe Interact Club to work with the local Rotary Club on community matters
  • Visits from our Alumni community to discuss careers and apprenticeships
  • Local pensioners and carehome tea party
  • Sports leaders' work for primary schools in Woodley Sports Week
  • Attendance at Careers Fair and the World Skills Day 
  • The Drayson Project which promotes women in Science
  • E Safety programme and staying safe
