We have been notified by Scotia Gas Networks that they will be starting a project to upgrade the gas network pipes in Earley/Woodley which will affect Church Road, Anderson Avenue and Woodlands Avenue for a number of weeks.

Multi-way lights will be installed at the junction of Woodlands Avenue and The Orangery for approximately 4 weeks.

They aim to be starting work on 1 July in Church Road for approximately nine weeks, and will need close Church Road in sections. They will start rolling road closures moving along the road from Eastcourt Avenue to Woodlands Avenue.

Once they have worked past Woodlands Avenue, they will install temporary traffic lights to allow road users to safely pass their work site up to the junction of Culver Lane.

As this work will take longer than the six-week school holidays, they are starting the work early to ensure that the traffic management will be removed by the start of the new school year.

This will affect journeys to and from school by both bus and car. Please check your bus provider’s website for changes to your route and time as some bus stops may be suspended.

School Bus number 81

School bus 81 will be on a diversion until the end of term due to the works on Church Road, and some stops will not be available on Palmerston Road, Anderson Avenue and St Peter’s Church.

The route will divert as follows:

School 81 to Bulmershe School: Earley Crossroads, left Wokingham Road, right St Bartholomew’s Road, right, A4 London Road, straight over roundabout (2nd exit), right (4th exit) to The Drive, continue Whitegates Lane, left Culver Lane, right Church Road, mini roundabout left onto Woodlands Avenue resuming normal route.

School Bus 81 From Bulmershe: Normal Route to Woodlands Avenue, right Church Road, left Culver Lane, right Whitegates Lane, continue The Drive, left A4 London Road, straight over roundabout (2nd exit), left St Bartholomew’s Road, left Wokingham Road, right at Three Tuns / Earley crossroads on to normal route.
