Transition Communication

As we head towards September, the school will be sending you lots of information about key dates and next steps. This page will collate all of the communication that is sent, so that it is all in one place.

One of the things we find year on year is that some email service providers like to mark emails from The Bulmershe School as spam/junk, therefore if you are not receiving emails from us, please do check your junk folder in case they have found their way in there. Some might be from "Admin", others from "Transition".

If you are still not receiving information, please let our Transition Team know by emailing transition@bulmershe.wokingham.sch.uk and we can check the email addresses we have for you.

Another way to stay up to date with general information is to follow our official Facebook and X (Twitter) accounts.

Facebook Parent Groups

There are also private Facebook groups, set up and run by parents you can ask to join. Please note: these Facebook groups are not run by The Bulmershe school and we have no input into the content that can be found there, however you might find them a useful place to meet and chat to other families in the community.

1. A dedicated group for those families joining the school in September:
"The Bulmershe School Year 7 September 2024"

2. The whole school parent group

Family Contribution

We request a family contribution of £50 each year from all families. Money raised by your contribution is used to enhance the school campus, and so make the school environment a more pleasant place for your child to be. The Student School Council meets regularly to discuss areas for improvement for their school.

Financial support is also needed to help run the school minibus, which is vital for school trips such as outdoor education and after-school sporting and cultural events. If you are able to make this contribution, please do so in sQuid using the Offers tab.

Aimed at parents of students who are moving from primary school to secondary school in summer 2024, this course, run by the team at Wokingham Borough council, builds on the information given by BUlmershe and looks at the transition from a practical and emotional standpoint. The course will be particularly helpful for parents and carers whose child is anxious around the move. The course looks at how secondary schools work and discusses issues around practical organisation, friendship issues, and managing anxiety.
