Year 11 and Year 13 Proms
Back
The end of an academic year is always a time of mixed emotions as we prepare to say goodbye to our older students. This week, our campus celebrated the end of an era for both our Year 11 and Year 13 cohorts with two prom events. These celebrations represent more than just a party; they are a key milestone in our students' journey and a chance to reflect on the effort and resilience they have shown. As a school, we place a strong emphasis on student wellbeing, and these events provide a lovely opportunity for our young people to celebrate their achievements together before they take their next steps.
Our Year 11 students gathered at Sindlesham Court for their highly anticipated prom. The arrivals were a major highlight of the night, with students pulling up in everything from motorbikes to a hummer, accompanied by the occasional burst of confetti cannons. Mrs Edwards was positioned at the end of the red carpet to welcome each student, providing some gentle amusement for the crowd as she occasionally struggled to operate some of the fancier modern car doors. Once inside, students enjoyed a buffet, where the veggie kebabs were particularly popular, before heading straight to the dancefloor. Classic tracks like the ChaCha Slide and the Macarena kept the room moving, alongside a massive singalong to Sweet Caroline and an enthusiastic train led by the boys to Fireball. Tutors even recreated their recent assembly flash mob when the song HOTTOGO started playing.
Year 13 students celebrated the completion of their school journey at the Hilton Hotel on Kennet Island. This was a new venue for us, offering a stylish reception area and beautiful decorations that set a sophisticated tone for the night. Our sixth formers arrived looking fabulous in their formal wear and sat down to enjoy a relaxed three-course meal together. After a demanding exam season, it was wonderful to see the students letting their hair down, sharing their favourite memories and enjoying each other's company.
Making Memories and Celebrating Hard Work
These milestone events have a significant impact on our student body, helping to mark the transition from school life to future study or careers. For our Year 11 students, the evening was a chance to celebrate the strong bonds they have built over the last five years. High heels were quickly kicked off in favour of comfort, allowing everyone to make the most of the sweet cart and the popular photo booth. The photographs taken during the night will serve as lasting reminders of their time within The Bulmershe School community.
For our Year 13 students, the celebration was especially meaningful as it was designed and organised by their peers. A massive thank you must go to Anaya M, Rosie C, Elizabeth B and the rest of our Student Leadership Team. Their dedication and months of meticulous planning ensured the evening at Kennet Island was a triumph. Seeing our oldest students take charge of such an event shows how much they have grown in confidence and capability during their time with us.
A Thank You to Our Staff
An event of this scale is only possible because of the commitment of our staff team and student leaders. We would like to extend our thanks to the tutors and support staff who helped make both evenings so successful. We also thank Mrs Edwards, who was last seen heading home with leftover pizza and sweets for a well-deserved rest, alongside Mr Lord and Mr Scott, who are incredibly proud of their Year 13 students.
