Activities for Year 4

As part of our commitment to supporting local primary schools in Woodley, The Bulmershe School invites Year 4 pupils to participate in a range of enrichment activities. These events are designed to give younger students their first taste of secondary school life, helping them imagine what it might feel like to move to a "big school" in the future.

Our Year 9 and 10 peer mentors and transition leaders play a key role in these events, guiding and supporting the Year 4s throughout the activities. Their kindness, patience, and maturity help to create a welcoming atmosphere, easing any nerves and building positive connections.

Local Year 4s are invited into school each year to take part in a Coding competition, which you can read more about below.

Year 4 Coding Competition

Every year The Bulmershe host a Year 4 Coding Challenge, giving younger pupils a chance to explore secondary school life while developing key skills. Supported by our fantastic Year 9 Computing Transition Ambassadors, we are consistently impress by our visiting Year 4 students' resilience, creativity, and teamwork.

Events like this not only build confidence but also help younger children feel excited about their future transition to secondary school, showcasing how welcoming and inspiring our school community can be.
