Activities for Year 3
As part of a cluster of Woodley Schools, The Bulmershe welcome Year 3s from our local primary schools to take part in enrichment activities. These events aim to introduce young students to a secondary setting to help them be able to visualise what a "big school" can look like for their future. We also introduce Year 3s to a few of our Bulmershe Students, who are employed to organise and guide children through the events and activities. We are so proud of how kind, caring and mature our Year 9 and 10 transition lead and peer mentors are - and this is especially evident when we watch them work with younger years.
Currently we run two events for Year 3 children: our Bushcraft Taster Days and Climate Change Event. You can read more about these below.
Bushcraft Taster Days
“Bushcraft Camp” is a highlight of the Bulmershe experience, offering Year 7 students the chance to attend a week-long residential packed with exciting activities such as shelter building, archery, axe throwing, wood carving, open-fire cooking, and much more. This annual event gives visiting Year 3s a taste of what makes Bushcraft so unforgettable.

Primary Climate Change Awareness
The Woodley Primary Climate Change Awarness event is run in organiseation with a collection of Woodley schools and Woodley Town Council. The event is designed by Mr Tomala and Mrs Garrard, from the Geography department of the Bulmershe School, to educate young learners about the urgent issue of climate change and help them understand how it impacts our planet.
By fostering awareness at an early age, we hope to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders who will work toward protecting the planet for future generations.
