Green Careers Week
Back
In today's rapidly changing world, our children face an array of challenges, one of the most pressing being the daunting reality of climate change. According to a study conducted by Bath University, young adults are deeply concerned about the future, with many feeling overwhelmed by the environmental crisis. The impact of this distress on their daily lives is a matter of concern for all of us.
However, there is a glimmer of hope amid these worries. Young people are eager to be part of the solution. They are keen to engage in efforts to combat climate change and contribute to the betterment of our planet. As a school, we have a responsibility to nurture this passion and provide our children with the tools and knowledge they need to make a real difference.
The Bulmershe School is gearing up for Green Careers Week from the 6th to the 10th of November. This initiative aims to inspire and guide students towards understanding the various pathways available in the realm of STEM Green careers.
But what exactly is a green career? It's any profession that contributes to the preservation or restoration of our environment. With a promising prediction of two million green jobs in the UK by 2030, it's clear that there are ample opportunities for our children to pursue careers that not only align with their interests but also contribute to the greater good.
During this special week, our students will have the chance to explore the diverse range of green careers within the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM). From coastal defence engineers to wind turbine technicians, from conservationists to environmental consultants, the possibilities are vast and incredibly exciting.
Our aim is to instill in our students a sense of purpose and enthusiasm for these green careers. We want to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to contribute to the creation of a more sustainable and resilient future.
