Exploring the Wild: Year 3 Bushcraft
BackThis week our Year 3 visitors took part in a Bushcraft experience focused on fire lighting and safety, an important step in building confidence and practical skills. With the guidance of experienced leaders, the students learnt how to safely light fires, gaining hands-on experience while understanding the importance of safety around open flames.
A highlight of the day was toasting marshmallows over the campfire—a fun activity that brought the group together and created plenty of laughter. While it was a treat for the Year 3s, the event also played a vital role in helping them feel more comfortable with new experiences outside their usual environment.
Supporting the activity were our Year 9 transition helpers, who acted as role models and mentors for the younger students. By working alongside their younger peers, the Year 9s showcased teamwork and leadership, helping to ease some of the worries young children often feel about moving to secondary school.
This event is just one of the ways we help primary school children build confidence and develop positive connections with older students, making their eventual transition to secondary school a little less daunting.
