National Reading Championship

On Wednesday 8th March, four year 7 and 8 students competed in the National Reading Championship Quiz regional heat! At first they were nervous, anticipating the 75 questions they would be asked on all things books, characters, authors and more. We fuelled up on snacks and drinks from the fanciest teacups and were ready to begin the epic challenge! 

Confidence soared after we answered 17 / 20 answers correctly for round 1 and 2. Celebrations at correct answers became more and more exuberant with victory laps, hugs and cheers! Round 3 and 4 saw us succeed with 16 / 20!

In the end, we came joint 7th out of 27 schools, many of which were top schools across Oxford, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. It was a great opportunity to test our bookish knowledge and to learn important lessons about team spirit and positivity.

A HUGE congratulations to the students who competed and to the substitute team who worked really hard behind the scenes to get our team ready and prepared! We can’t wait to give it another go next year!
