Why did you choose to come to The Bulmershe School?

Attending Bulmershe was always on the cards. Having attended the open evening back in 2018, I was quickly welcomed into a supportive environment where the focus was placed on shaping young minds to ensure that they achieved their highest personal potential in all facets of life. This positively resonated with me as my choice to attend Bulmershe outweighed the anxieties I had surrounding parting ways with all my friends from primary school, most of whom were attending another secondary school. Most of all, I knew my decision to join was the right one when I became engrossed in the tight-knit network that characterised Bulmershe. I believe that even after I leave the comfort of Bulmershe, its impact on me will remain imprinted forever.

How has The Bulmershe School inspired you to strive for your aspirations and dreams?

"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." Those were the insightful words imparted on me in one of Mrs Woodfin’s morning assemblies. It is clear to me that Bulmershe is geared up to instil a mindset of tenacity to achieve and push past any obstacle you may face. Hence, it is fair to say that at the heart of the Bulmershe community exists Mrs Woodfin. I will undoubtedly say that Mrs Woodfin remains a guiding light in my pursuit of knowledge and personal development. Further, I would like to place emphasis on another source of inspiration for me: my teachers. Seeing the passion Bulmershe teachers adopt in broadening the horizons of their students has motivated me. Instances come to mind when during conversations with them my curiosity for further learning was truly ignited.

How do you feel the co-curricular (extra-curricular clubs, trips, opportunities) experience at The Bulmershe School has benefited you?

Bulmershe offers a plethora of co-curricular opportunities such as French trips and being able to represent the subjects you take at the open evenings. Thanks to exposure to these types of confidence-building experiences, I became more adept in public speaking and problem solving.

What would you say is your favourite moment so far in your time at The Bulmershe School?

Looking back, I’m struggling to pick a favourite moment. My time at Bulmershe has been one filled with positive memories and I look forward to being able to spend my final year in secondary education here. Despite this indecision, all the memories I gained at Bulmershe can be characterised by feelings of belonging and achievement.

What is your favourite subject and why?

Alongside studying History and Psychology, I can say with a high degree of certainty that Economics is my favourite subject for numerous reasons (of which I fear I may not be able to fit within a reasonable word count). In the modern world, the functioning of our country is underpinned by the ever-changing economic climate we exist in and I believe that through studying Economics, you gain both the invaluable skill of critical thought and an ability to understand how seemingly insignificant global events influence the lives of so many.

What advice would you give to a student about to join The Bulmershe School?

Coming to secondary school marks another stepping stone in what is hopefully a highly fulfilling and rewarding life ahead of you. Take pride in knowing that, at every step of the way in your time at Bulmershe, you have the backing of both a supportive team of staff and students. It is on this note that I would urge every student to enjoy the opportunities that Bulmershe provides them as a means to build new friendships and discover where their passions lie. Most of all, never be afraid to take a risk as you never know where it may find you. After all, every experience, good or bad, shapes you into a better person.
