Why did you choose to come to The Bulmershe School?
I chose to come to Bulmershe for my secondary school experience as it appealed to me both at the open day I attended and also the fish bowl day that my primary school provided. I enjoyed the environment that Bulmershe had as it seemed positive and supportive, which was what I was looking for. Many of my friends from primary were also choosing Bulmershe and it gave what would be a scary experience a sense of familiarity.
How has The Bulmershe School inspired you to strive for your aspirations and dreams?
Bulmershe has opened so many new opportunities up to me and has given me the confidence to pursue things I never believed I could. When first starting the school the subject I was most nervous for was Science as it seemed complicated and scary to me. This has since drastically changed and it quickly became one of my favourite subjects, encouraging me to continue further and take biology as one of my A-levels. Without the support and guidance from the science teachers I would not have become so confident in my abilities and I am grateful for all the help they have given me over the years.
How do you feel the co-curricular (extra-curricular clubs, trips, opportunities) experience at The Bulmershe School has benefited you?
I have loved the opportunities that Bulmershe has given me, the first being the day trip to France that I was lucky enough to go on in year 7, which was one of the best and most tiring days ever. I also have taken part in multiple school productions, which have given me the opportunity to form friendships with students from all years and gain more confidence in
myself. Finally, I have been on multiple trips for geography both at GCSE and A level which have given me memories I shall cherish for a lifetime.
What would you say is your favourite moment so far in your time at The Bulmershe School?
It is difficult to pinpoint my favourite moment after being here for so many years, but I can
narrow it down to the times I have participated in the school performances as they have been some of the best times of my life. But also controversially GCSE exam season was very memorable for me, obviously it was a very stressful period of my life but when everyone is going through the same situation and it creates an incredibly supportive environment,
whether that be revising together in lessons or attending both before and after school revision sessions held by the teachers. All in all it was so memorable as they made the tough times as manageable as possible and filled us with the confidence we needed.
What is your favourite subject and why?
My favourite subject is definitely Biology. From starting off disliking science my opinion has
changed and my love for the subject has grown over the years. The content of the course has been interesting to me through learning how everything around us functions and the complex structures that make this possible. The teachers are another main reason why I love this subject. Mrs Nath has taught me Biology for almost my whole time at Bulmershe
and she has helped so much with my confidence in my own abilities within the subject to the extent that I now wish to pursue a marine biology course at university.
What advice would you give to a student about to join The Bulmershe School?
My main piece of advice I would give is not to panic, starting a new school especially the move up to secondary is a very daunting experience but you have to remember that everyone goes through the same thing and probably feels the same way. Bulmershe will bring so many new and exciting opportunities to be a part of and no matter how scary they may seem they will be some of the best experiences you will ever have.
So I urge you to make the most of these and to use them to find other people with similar interests to you and to find where your passion lies.
