This term, we hosted the incredibly exciting Year 4 Coding Challenge, which saw Year 4 pupils from a range of local schools work in pairs to code a game, completely from scratch! This event was judged by a Professor from the University, a Tech expert and the Mayor of Woodley who were all incredibly taken aback by the expertise and brilliance of the students.

The Year 4 students wowed us all with their resilience, imagination, excellent teamwork and ingenuity. Some of our favourite games contained football, a ‘Flappy Bird’ style flying character, mazes and racing games. All of the games showcased students’ creative and often hilarious ideas which really impressed us all!

The Year 4 competitors were assisted by our lovely Computing Transition Ambassadors from Year 9, who worked tirelessly all day to make sure that any technical problems were solved instantly, pupils were given encouragement when needed and that refreshments were topped up throughout the day. Our ambassadors also helped to welcome the Year 4 students’ parents who attended a celebration event in the afternoon, where they were recognised as incredible assets to our school by the Mayor of Woodley and other visitors. Thank you so much to everyone involved in this day!
