At The Bulmershe School, we are always delighted to welcome visitors who want to experience the vibrant, inclusive, and high-achieving environment that makes our school so special. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting Stuart Matthews, the new CEO of the Corvus Learning Trust, for a two-day visit, which provided a wonderful opportunity for him to meet our students and staff, explore our facilities, and see first-hand the ethos that underpins everything we do.

What Makes The Bulmershe School Special?

Mr Matthews’ visit was packed with classroom visits, department meetings, and discussions with staff and students. Following his time at Bulmershe, he shared his reflections and we are thrilled to highlight some of the key observations he made:

✔ An Inspiring Journey: He praised our school’s remarkable progress and the pride shared by staff, students, and parents alike. With The Bulmershe School currently oversubscribed, it’s clear that families in Woodley, Earley and Reading value the outstanding education and supportive community we offer.

✔ Celebrating Diversity: Mr Matthews was particularly impressed by how we embrace and celebrate our diverse school community. Our students shared that they feel safe, welcome, and valued, reinforcing that diversity is truly one of Bulmershe’s strengths.

✔ A Happy and Purposeful Atmosphere: He noted our positive work ethic, strong team spirit, and the enthusiasm of staff who are dedicated to creating a nurturing learning environment where students can thrive.

✔ Exceptional Support for Every Student: Our commitment to supporting all learners, including those with additional needs, was commended. Our facilities like Oasis and SIGNAL, along with our proactive approach to attendance and safeguarding, stood out as exemplary.

✔ Inclusive Ethos and Positive Behaviour: Mr Matthews recognised our dedication to student wellbeing and praised the effectiveness of our behaviour systems, including Class Charts, which promotes and rewards positive learning attitudes.

✔ Remarkable Students: A highlight of his visit was speaking with our students, who he described as articulate, proud, and full of enthusiasm for their school. He was particularly impressed by our Sixth Formers, who spoke highly of their courses and the support they receive.

✔ A Proud Partnership: In his closing remarks, Mr Matthews expressed how proud the Corvus Learning Trust is to have The Bulmershe School as part of its family, recognising our dedicated and talented staff for their hard work and commitment to student success.
