Public Speaking Success!

“A really great experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was really interesting listening to other passionate public speakers.” 

The Bulmershe School had two very successful teams enter the annual public speaking competition ‘Have Your Say’, run by the Loddon Valley Rotary club. The evening saw excellent speeches by teams from The Abbey, Reading Blue Coat, Highdown School and Waingels—there was some fierce competition! 

Ella Axford and Nausika Napiersky (Year 12) won the award for ‘Best Senior Team’ with their excellent speech ‘Do Materials Matter?’ looking at the concerns with a materialistic society. Reuben Clacy and Gaetano Archer (Year 12) successfully engaged the audience with their charismatic speech ‘The one thing we need in this modern world’, reminding us of just how vital a good sense of humour can be. Reuben also went on to win the award for ‘Best Speaker of the Evening’, which is his second time securing this award!
